Hal.dll corrupt - have tried several fixes
Hi guys,
I am recieving the Hall.dll corrupt message on boot up. Have tried bootcfg /rebuild but get the failed scan chkdsk message. Ran chkdsk, it found some errors but still cannot run the bootcfg /rebuild.
Tried copying across new Hall.dll file from installation cd - copied okay but still won't boot.
System, is AMD Opteron DC Win XP SP3,
Major problem if new install is required as my busines outlook is on the system drive and will lose all my emails with new installation.
can you help?
Thanks

Run the disk diagnostic for your brand of disk drive (if you don't know what make it is run Seatools). Download UBCD and burn it to CD, it has all the disk testing utilities on it plus many more useful tools besides:
Ultimate Boot CD

UBCD4Win is a bit more difficult since you have to build it. I'd use that to pull data off a drive, but plain UBCD is better for diags.
UBCD5 is a "download and burn" disc. Link is in the signature.
If you don't know how to burn .iso files, read the UBCD FAQ
