IE8
Hi: Interested in downloading IE8. When I attempt, am told it will take six hours. I have DSL via Verizon, and can't believe it should take that long to download the latest explorer. Thoughts? Much thanks, JIm S

Are you trying from here?

If there is a lot of demand for the download, yep it can seem like it takes forever.
Even with these kinds of numbers.
Download Speed: 23017 kbps (2877.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2649 kbps (331.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

Jim1--16 MB should not take very long using DSL. But maybe the initial downloaded file is only a setup file. Clicking on it then accesses the internet for the real download.

Take no notice of those time estimates, they are totally meaningless.

Not sure
Hi to all: Not sure what's going on. Welshjim could be right. I had no trouble downloading the IE8 (?????), and it went quickly. Clicked on install, and then download started. Started about 6:30 p.m., last evening, and left run all through the night. Checked in the a.m., and the download monitor was still running. Had to leave, and didn't want the system to go on too long, so shut it down. Not sure if I have 8 or not. Suspect, not. I'm used to using the IE CD ROM disk, so the download approach was new to me, and yes, I did think it was taking an awfully long time. Went to the Hippo site (I usually use that site since it is so reliable), and the initial install (I guess it was the install module), downloaded quickly. Jim S
