    Exclamation Problem Re:Resources

Hello all, got a problem Re:Resources.
Usually appears after i leave my laptop off for an hour or so, then a message appears saying low on resources and something Re:user and to choose another user or something like that, should have written it down.

Have you any idea what could be wrong, and how to sort it??

    Thanks, GEP

When you say you are leaving it off, do you actually mean on Stand By or Hibernate?

    Please, post some computer info:
    - processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
    - hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
    - security programs in use (antivirus, firewall)

Some computers just don't get on with Sleep mode at all Unfortunately, if you have one of those, there isn't usually much you can do about it. But you may find Hibernate works much better, it often does.

And with some, you give up on both ideas.

Yeah, unfortunately, Windows power saving features had never worked 100%.
I don't use them at all on any computer.

    Re:Resources Problem

Hello Supersparks, Train and all, i will take it off "When the lid closes what to do," i set it to sleep.

The full message it comes up with is:Your system is running low on resources. You cannot log on as a new user. Please use an acoount that has been logged on. (Box underneath says, other credentials, then when i click it, it change to Switch user) Will not allow one of the others either.
I have to Restart the computer.

Will allow it to Hibernate, instead of sleep.

    Thanks, Gep

Hello Frebo and all, have allowed it to Hibernate twice, for awhile each time, and no problems.

Will see how it goes, and will only stop Norton if needed, as Norton has been on my computer for the 6 weeks since i have had this computer, the problem only started a week ago.

    Thanks, GEP

You're very welcome, let's hope that it is fixed

I would advise replacing Norton with a better AV though. NOD32 and Kaspersky are the best IMO, but the free version of Avast is excellent too, and you can't beat the price.

Hello Supersparks and all,(I would advise replacing Norton with a better AV though)

I have purchased Zonealarm full version including AV, i could see if i can have it on two computers?

Though, theres a saying, if it Ain't broke, leave it. It is doing its job, and, not so far causing any problems.
I do not think its responsible for causing the Resources problem, as it was probably caused when i chose what to do when i Shut the Laptop lid, i choose Sleep.
I have chosen to Hibernate instead, and seems this has solved the problem.

I will keep an eye on Norton, and will decide on a new AV/Firewall such as Z/A if the problem is directly associated with Norton.

In the old days, i ditched Norton because of problems, such as hogging my resources etc, this 360 version seems alot better.

Thanks as always for your help, and suggestions, will bear them in mind, keep up the good work here, thanks again, GEP
