Remove .NET Assistant from Firefox Addons

You may have noticed the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant in your Firefox Addons after Windows update. If that wasn't bad enough, the uninstall button is grayed out. Here's how to get rid of that pest:

    1. Open Regedit (Start > Run > “regedit”)
    2. Go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions”
(or “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\extensions” for 64-bit versions of Windows)
    3. Delete the “{20a82645-c095-46ed-80e3-08825760534b}” key

Or, if you can't (or don't want to) edit the registry, here is the Microsoft fix for the issue...

This is the method I used.

Good to know. Although I dunno if I'd trust another update to fix an update. Haha

In case you folks are wondering what the big deal is..

This update adds to Firefox one of the most dangerous vulnerabilities present in all versions of Internet Explorer: the ability for websites to easily and quietly install software on your PC. Since this design flaw is one of the reasons you may've originally choosen to abandon IE in favor of a safer browser like Firefox, you may wish to remove this extension with all due haste.

I ran M$ fix, and when I checked registry, that entry was still there. I had to manually delete it.
