[RESOLVED] cpu upgrade
i'm upgrading from socket a duron 1.4 to amd sempron
3000,but it wont work. i got the semp 3000 second hand
not sure if it's a dud.
when i googled it the 3000 came up as 333 fsb so i set
the jumpers accordingly but no joy.could it need a bios upgrade to work as i've never upgraded the bios on
this board/ asrock k7s41gx. made boot disk through format in win xp
and copied latest bios upgrade to that floppy disk .
should i try the bios upgrade or do you think the cpu is
a dud,or am i missing something, i haven't done this before

You need a BIOS update that will allow the BIOS to see and use the Sempron.
Asrock does not list that mobo anymore. Good luck!

At the very minimum,
BIOS version 1.90 is required to support AMD Sempron 3000+.
The most current BIOS is listed as 2.80.
