Hard drive issue
I have a presario 2500 lap top that I was just given to me. When you boot up you get a message that say " Smart Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: Toshiba Mk4021GAS-(PM) Warning: Immediatly back-up your data and replace you hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue"
I am assuming the answer is obvious but wanted to talk with you people before I went and purchased a new hard drive. Is there something else I should try first like reloading XP or something? Thanks for your help

You can possible disable that warning, but your best bet is as you state. Time for a new hdd.

I just so happens that I have another hard drive that I stuck in. The previous one was a Mk4021gas and I one I replaced it with was a mk6021gas which I think the only difference is on is a 60 gig and one is a 40 gig. But I got the warning with the new hard drive also

is there a way to reset the warning. I put in a different hard drive that should be good but that message comes up even before windows installs

I went into bios and I can see that SMART was enabled but I would not let me tab down to it
