    Windows update for Wixp

I keep getting update notices from Microsoft regarding Media Player 10.

Does this work with XP MCEdition or are there any problems with it?
I seem to remember being told by a Microsoft support technician on their site that it was not advisable for me.

This was when my Vista dual boot was upsetting my Media Center TV.

XP users comments would be welcome.

    Thanks for your time Welshjim

What benefits would WMP 11 offer and has it been known to upset other programs?

    Regards

    j. richardson--I am not trying to be lazy, but I thought it might be most helpful to give you the references Google offers for both your questions. This way you can decide for yourself what is important and what to believe http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...mp+11+features

If you are referring to the Windows Update,
    The next time you're updating,
Click on the "+" next to the WMP update hotfix(s),
Select option not to be notified about it again.
    Cheers.

I have been using WMP11 on my three computers and have had no issues, for me it gets the job that I need done (music ripping, playing and loading to my PMP/Phone all with no drama.

I may be wrong and I cannot test it now (since no Critical Updates are pending) but I think Windows Update no longer offers the option to not be notified again about an update if you use the Express button to run the Windows Update scan. That option only is offered if you use the Custom Button.

Thanks for your time Welshjim again, and Shinma and MadAmosMalone

I will give it a try. One last question, I have in the past seen messages approximating to ' If you load this there is no return to MPxxx ?

If this is the case with this version I would have to think hard...not wanting to upset a computer which is running XP well ...almost as well as my Win 98 machine of 10 years!

I have never tried to remove it but I see WMP11 is in the add remove program menu so removing it "should" be no problem.
