    Pen List Corrupt

just started happening recently but occasionally (a few days a week) my laptop freezes and a blue screen pops up with the message "pen list corrupt" and a screen full of text that i dont get enough time to read before it closes down and restarts. this is then met with a message window stating that "windows has recovered from a serious error". a direct result of this is that the computer does not recognise the wireless adapter i have for a lenghty period of time and could well have caused other unnoticable effects (im not very good with computers).

any help on how to fix/avoid this would be much appreciated

oh and i dont know if this will help or not but its xp professional

I take it you mean "PFN_List_Corrupt"? If so, that is often caused by faulty memory. Try testing the RAM using these nice utilities:

    Memtest86

    Windows Memory Diagnostic

    Did you use both?

O of them coming up with that 91%/98% tells me something ain't right.

So run the other one and let us know what is found.

Right now I would say you need new ram, or one stick maybe bad if you have more than one.

    Disable auto-reboot

When Running windows and it crashes you will get a blue screen and it will
automatically restart, ofter it will restart too fast for you to see the
error message. You could check the error log in this case but that is too
easy. We are going to disable auto restart on system failure.

    1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System (Windows+Pause works, too)
    2. Go to Advanced
    3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
    4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

You do not copy to a cd but this will help out.

How can I write (burn) ISO files to CD?
