I don't know why I decided to try IE7 again today. It was a big mistake. It had worked well in the past, but not now. I click on the IE shortcut and it goes to the IE7 window and shows that it is connecting, but it never does and then it freezes.
It stays there and nothing loads. I can't get out unless I restart pc. Have tried reinstalling. That's ok, I can use my Yahoo and Firefox browsers. But it bugs me because I can't figure out what is wrong. Thanks for any ideas you may have. If not, that's ok too.

How is your computer security/cleaning department?
I'm sure my question has been asked probably a hundred times and then some. I did do a little searching myself, but thought I would come here hoping for a quick fix from someone that has experienced those problems before with IE7.
To answer your question though I have Zone Alarm as my firewall. I also use ATF Cleaner, CCleaner, EasyCleaner, and use my browsers Tools to delete trash right after I have used the internet. I try to keep everything clean at all times.
Also I ran HighjackThis. It was clean. I ran a virus scan with Avast and used SuperAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware 2007, and Spybot just to make sure they didn't pick up anything. The last thing I did was to run the Sytem File Checker. Anyway everything looks clean.
I don't have to use IE7, but it irritates me because I don't know what's wrong. I like to fix things if possible. Have never had any problems using IE in the past. Any other suggestions?
Welshjim, I really thought after checking all those possible fixes one would work. Well, nothing worked. Everything checked out ok with my pc. I appreciate the attempt though. To me it's one of those mysteries. And IE is also a sorry browser. Microsoft needs to get on the stick and make something that will perform as well as Firefox and some other good browsers out there. IE7 has also worked for me in the past. Not sure what happened this time. I also uninstalled and reinstalled it just to make sure of the installation. Thanks.
Broni, no go. Reset didn't work either. And just when I wanted to close out IE, everything froze up as before. Couldn't close any windows so had to restart pc as usual. IE is sick. It's trash. Thanks anyway.
Looks clean to me.

KevinB11--If you are a glutton for reading here are suggestions from Google. http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...&q=ie7+freezes
Or you might be able to uninstall IE7.
What browser were you using before you installed IE7? If IE6, you should be able to revert to IE6 by going to Control Panel|Add/Remove. Look under Windows|highlight|Click Remove.
Now, you may have had a faulty installation of IE7, so if you want to try again, do so but follow the suggestions here to maximize the chances of success. http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html

WIN7 Ultimate SP1 64bit, IE 11, NTFS,
cable, MS Security Essentials, Windows 7 firewall
Not sure exactly which repair fixed it, maybe several. I repaired the TCP/IP and the Winsock with WinsockxpFix. I also noticed in my Services that DNS Client was disabled. I started it and set it to automatic. Hope that's right. And flushed the DNS cache. Also reset Internet Explorer settings. Anyway I am glad to get it working. Thanks for the help Welshjim and Broni.
