    BSOD on wifes computer

I built a computer for my wife about a year ago she has lately been getting Blue screens of Death lately. The computer has a motherboard by Asus and it has 500MB of ram by crucial. The CPU is a 2.6 by Intel Celeron.

The Blue Screen today has this message.

    Stop 0X0000008 (0XC000001D,0XF39E8EDF,0XF7C31AB0,0X00000000
    MRXSMB.SYS - Address F39E8EDF Base at F39DA000 Date Stamp 445bldd6.

Does anyone know what that means?

She only uses this computer for e-mail and pictures.

    TIA Gary

That is an unusual Stop error, I've never seen it before. Mrxsmb.sys is a Windows file, so get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes (you don't get any report from the System File Checker, it just silently replaces and corrupt or missing system files that it finds).

OK Thanks. I have done that before just not on that computer. The only thing she had up on her screen at the time was the desktop.

    Thanks again. Gary
