Okay!!!I managed to get this cd....the same as in the link you sended me.

I made a quick test, and an andvanced test.

the first one told me that the operation was succefull, and the second :

Problem detected on a non-hitachi disk drive,Please contact you HDD supplier for aditional support.Disposition code= 0x70

I tried to select Erase boot sector and Erase disk, but it told me:

You are trying to test a non HGST Hard disk drive. This program is only designed to work whit HGST hard drive.

So now,I should make a cd whit a hard drive that would work on my computer?

My primary master device name is :00ATA Primary master WDC WD400EB-00CP

Do you know a boot cd that could work whit this device?

    WD400EB-00CP
That is a western digatal 40 GB hard drive. a old 5400 RPM one at that.

so to test it, you need Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD)
    http://support.wdc.com/download/inde...id=999&swid=30

So it looks like you need a new drive. Now that I have found this.

Error Code and first aid for your drive page 29 http://www.hgst.com/downloads/dft32_user-guide.pdf

    Corrupted Sector.
    0x70
A general hard disk drive problem was detected. You can run the "Erase Disk" utility. If a subsequent test
fails again, the drive is defective and should be replaced.

The following table defines all the currently supported DFT error codes. For example if during testing of your hard drive DFT reports a error code of 0x70 as shown on page 14, this indicates that your hard disk drive has problems reading one or more of its sectors. In most of these cases the drive can heal itself of these errors. To do this first back-up all your data from the problem drive ( if possible ) then run DFT again and select either the Erase Disk or Sector Repair option which is under the Utility heading. If you already have a backup of the data on the hard disk or the data isn’t important you can opt to run Erase Disk/Sector Repair from the Test Result screen. Once the selected operation has completed you can then run one of the test options Quick or Advance to confirm that the drive has been healed. The result code, which should be displayed, is 0x00 if the test returns another code then you should check with your drive/system vendor if the drive can be return for warranty replacement.

That maybe the best way , your call, but if it were mine , because the WD program will fix things if it can, is to un the Zero write program in the diagnostics program, Using the Full method, twice. That should bury and problems as they were not caused by the head hitting the disk.

After the second FUll write pass, run the hitachi progrm again and see what it says just out of curiousity and let me know.

After that see if you can do a clean install.

I agree, writing zeros (AKA Low Level Formatting) can work wonders with a problematic drive. Be prepared for a loing wait though, that utility takes a long time to complete.

Don't forget to back up your data first, because it will completely wipe the drive.
