Huawei E586 wirless router question - file access
First I have just got one of these and it works great for going online with my laptop and PS3 but I am totally new to wireless stuff and have a specific questions.
In the reviews of the product it says "There's also a microSD card slot, which supports cards up to 32GB. The idea is that you can share files stored on the card with the devices connected to the Wi-Fi network."
Problem is I cant find any info on how to do this.
If its connected by USB the SD slot shows in "My Computer"
I am searching but nearly every hit is for one of 3 topics, review, selling / buying or unlocking.

Indeed, Unlocked-Dongle noted this.
The device supports MicroSD cards (optional extra) up to 32GB which can only be accessed when the E586 is connected by USB. It doesn’t appear that WiFi clients can access the MicroSD card!

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.

RE: Huawei E586 wirless router question - file access
I am having exactly the same problem. I have seen 3 network "dashboards" (web control panels) on the Internet that have an option to access files on the SD card and there's even a video on Youtube showing someone doing this, so it can be done. I have a post on Cnet asking this same question. I'll post back if I can find an answer. In the meantime, if anyone can help, please...

I too have the Huawei E586Es-2 modem.
It was originally on the T-Mobile network, but I recently unlocked it to use on Vodafone UK.
I share the same problem as you.
There is no option to access the microSD card through the GUI interface.
The only way to access the microSD card is when connected to a PC via USB.
My immediate thought was to check the Huawei website to see if they had a firmware update available to download to flash the modem (if there is a way?), but no such luck.
Here are the details of my device:
The software version is: 21.322.06.01.105
Hardware version: CH1E586E
Device Name: E586E
Have you been able to find a solution?
