winxp different computer
We had a storm a few nites ago and my wife's computer got toasted.....OOps.
I was going through the software of that computer and found, "OS CD Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2".
I have a perfectly good running 8 to 10 year old computer downstairs with win98se.......30gig hd, about 500 mgs of ram. blah, blah..
If I attempt to load the (after fdisk/format) XP what problems can I look forward to....Does MS have to be notified? ? ? ? I orginally built that old computer and I would just like to keep it going, especially with a new OS.
Thank You...

Is that an OEM CD or a Retail one? If it is OEM then you cannot re-use it, it lives and dies with the motherboard of the original computer. If it is retail though there won't be any problem with transferring it to another PC, though it will probably run like a dog on such an old PC.
Nick.
