Does anyone have any experience with Tuniq model Tower 120 cpu cooler? Is this a good cooler? Any info would be helpful.

But the very first question you have to ask yourself is will it fit in the case? Only when you've satisfied yourself on that point is there much point in deciding how good it is.

Is this intended for a new build? Otherwise, you also need to be aware that you will almost certainly have to remove the motherboard in order to fit the thing

The performance of this air cooler is beyond reproach, but we did find installation was often not much fun. You have to use a bottom plate for attaching the Tuniq through the Socket 775 mounting holes. This means the motherboard must be removed from the case to install the Tuniq. We wish Sunbeam could find a better way to mount, but we do prefer secure mounting of this large and heavy cooler to an easier solution that might be less secure.

And to make matters even worse, some mobos have big plates all connected into the heatpipe cooling system. Those plates often prevent through-board attachments - I've run into that little problem myself

But apart from that, if it fits, and you can find a way of mounting it, it should be a darn fine cooler

As I look into building a new system in the future, I look for good deals on hardware/components and save them until I am ready for a new system. SpywareDr, newegg is where I had seen it. For that price, I was considering on purchasing it and saving it for a future new build. I had built the system I am using now with the help of all you great guys. I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help. I have an antec slk 1650 case that I had purhased at a very good price a few years back and was saving it for a future build, as well. I am not sure if I will use this case for a future build or buy a better case. Would this cpu cooler fit that antec case? From what I am reading, It sounds like I might run into problems installing it and might be difficult to mount.

Supersparks, I am confused as to what you meant by your comment:

The Tuniq Tower 120 is a massive heatsink, designed to fit mid-tower and full-tower cases. At first glance you may wonder how it could possibly fit in a case, but the height is a bit less than the dimensions of a standard case and the Tuniq will definitely fit a standard case.

To try and clarify, some mobos with heatpipe assemblies for the chipset cooling (which is probably most high-end boards these days), also have a big plate underneath the board. On some, that plate will effectively prevent through-board mounting, which is what those big & heavy coolers require. I've seen Gigabyte and Asus boards like that, and I'm sure there are others. It's just another thing that you have to watch for when choosing components
