    D-Link wireless connection

doing a wireless connection at a friends house.
2 desktop computers using winXP Pro OS.

The main computer has a HP Laser All-in one printer attached. Model 1200 I think?

Has the following D-Link components on hand.

DI-624 Router, which will be attached via RJ-45 to high speed Cable connection, (Videotron).

DWL-G520 card in second HP pavillion unit in small room off garage ( 35 ft distance).

The wireless connections will be tested sometime next week.

The question is.... which router should replace the DI-624? or which router printer server should be purchased to make it all work.

He wants to go the wireless route. Hard wiring is not an option in this house.

I have read that some D-Link router (s) do not work with Laser printers only Ink Jet?

    Hi frankb,

If I'm not mistaken, you have everything you need.

I presume that the main PC is connected via RJ45 to the DI-624 and in turn to the cable modem? The printer is attached to the main PC via LPT/USB?

You just need to configure the second PC to connect to the DI-624 via it's DWL-G520 card. Share the printer on your main PC. The only drawback in this scenario is that for the second PC to print, the main PC will need to be switched on.

If you need to go totally wireless, then you will need another wireless card for your main PC.

    TEk

    more like will be.
The present installation is the main computer is direct to High Speed Cable modem.

Will Install the DI-624 LAN to Modem. RJ45 from Computer to Router.

The printer is as you say, direct to main computer.

The Second computer will have the PCI card DWL-G520 inserted, and go for handshaking.

    Now than, that being stated.

The DI-624 does not have feature to connect printer.
    That's the reason of saying
"The question is.... which router should replace the DI-624? or which router printer server should be purchased to make it all work."

Or would it less expensive to buy just a printer server?
Connect same from printer to router.

Seems, that in this case to go all wireless, and the cheapest, would be
to buy a new wireless Router with printer attachment like DI-714P,or DI-724U.

a second DWL-G520 to be used with main computer.
and than all "should work" like its supposed to.

The printer would be independent. Using from either and/or both computers.

    Is this correct?

I have used a Dlink DPR 1260 printserver that worked great with my printers. It lets youuse all the features of the mfp
common sense isn't all that common
