ive got my mates eternal HD over onto my pc to see if i can get it running as there seems to be a prob with his pc reading it, i was formatting his pc the other day for him and he mentioned when you want to take the usb cable for the HD first you have to go into `safely remove hardware` and disconnect it this way
i didnt , and now his pc cant read it, i put it into my pc and my machine started up by recognising it was there and then said there was a hardware failure, turned it off and started again, it said it was working but i couldnt find it, went into system then device manager and had the wee yellow exclamation mark next to it, tried updating drivers etc but too no avail, (btw it was a just plug and play, no software to install when he got it), im kinda stuck here for an answer as it says it has a code 10 problem in device manager
can anyone help as all his young sons fotos are on it
heres a link to the actual hdd but not the manufacturers site, scroll down the page a bit and you`ll see it
That sounds like a hardware failure of the enclosure. Hopefully the actual drive itself, and the data on it, will be fine. You could either take the drive out and put it into your PC as a slave, or put it into a different enclosure to rescue.
If those photos are so valuable, why weren't they backed up? I hope he learns a lesson from this.
