Can you give a link please? I'm unable to find any trace of them, so my feeling is that they would be someone else's drives that have been rebadged.

Personally I wouldn't touch a hard drive that hasn't been made by one of the major manufacturers though. I like Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital myself.

    Comstar is a Seagate brand, e.g. 300GB
    I trust Seagate in general - a good mid-level brand/price HD IMPO.
Since they price these pretty low, I would suspect either borderline specs or a marketing strategy aiming at the lower price points.
Sorry, no-one I know has practical experience with any of these.

I had a comstar Hard Drive 120GB for 2 months- filled it with my important data and then it died along with the contents. Irretrievable - they offer to replace it- but what good does that do really. I'm peeved so I'll tell the world- or at least whoever reads these postings. Don't trust this brand.
