Javascript Problems (Youtube Videos)
Hi. Today, I went to Youtube.com to watch some videos, but to my disbelief, I couldn't. Here is the exact error message I get when I try to watch a video.
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player.
I already have the latest flash player installed and I made sure Javascript was enabled by clicking:
Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom Level
Then scrolling down until I found the Scripting catagory and made sure it was all enabled.
I also have the latest Java installed, but I still get the same error message.
I'm not really sure what else I can do. Please help. Thanks.

I now have the same problem hoboman had (both in firefox as IE). Same as him I have Javascript enabled and I have the latest flashplayer.
I un- and reinstalled flashplayer over 5 times, rebooted comp each time, but I keep getting the same message at youtube.
So the above solutions don't work for me unfortunately. Could you help me out?

hob0 man--If the above suggestion does not work, in IE, try putting www.youtube.com into your Trusted Sites. (Uncheck the box "Require Server Verification....")
Also Javascript is not Java. To get the latest Javascript go here

Pokiman and hobo man, and Welshjim:
On the page that Welshjim mentions, there is a feature "What Others Are Downloading" that mentions "Windows Script 5.7 for Windows XP" w/o other Win vers.
I saw it after dnlding the 5.6. I dnlded it, the 5.7, and on a site that incidentally didn't work on javascripts just today, the Lowes site, it now works like a charm. My wife complained about the inability to open b/c of the javascript pest. Now I opened it just as easy.
I'd recommend to dnld the 5.7 ver.

Reason: sorry, 5.7 NOT 5.6 IN 2ND PARAGRAPH

Concerning jscript versions 5.6 and 5.7. I Googled and found several references and blogs. They do not clear up the matter too well. One says 5.7 came with IE7. One recommends getting 5.7. Another says you can stay with 5.6

http://msmvps.com/blogs/alunj/default.aspx (about half way down the page.)
It seems there was some problem with 5.6, which first was pulled back but now reinstated with supposedly fixed in the latest download. But whether to go with 5.7 is hazy. It may have been created to take care of the original 5.6 problem. You may note that the date of 5.7's "publication" is earlier than the date of the latest 5.6. So maybe 5.6 is the one to use now that the problem has been fixed.
I have several versions of jscript.dll on my PC. The one in the IE7 folder is version 5.6. The one in DLLCache (which generally is the latest based on Windows Updates) is 5.7.
I think I will stick with that.
If anyone knows what should be done, please post.
