[RESOLVED] How to play .rm files without Real Player
I am currently using Windows Media Player 9 along with Windows XP on my Pentium IV System. I have downloaded a few Real Media (.rm) files. The Real Player which is required to play these files is a a software which is very heavy on the resources and I dont want to install it on my system.
Is there any codec or any other software (media player), which can play these Real Media files without having the need to install Real Player.
ANy help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Raza

For some time, my choice has been Real Alternative http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm One of the key things I've liked about it is that is does not try to connect to the web like Real Player does...

The other alternative is to convert the file with something like RM to MP3 converter

Hi:
There's just a lot of choices at http://www.free-codecs.com/ . I love K-Lite codecs the most as it can support many types of media file & after installing it my windows media player also can play rm/rmvb file.

Thanks everybody for the nice suggestions.
RM to MP3 converter is only for converting audio files. The real media files, which I have also contain video, so what about that ???
SO I will go with the Real ALternative at the moment. I am going to download it and tell you guys if it worked for me or not.
Best wishes for now

Glad it worked for you!
If you want to break free of QuickTime's hold, QuickTime Alternative works great too.
