Did you look in add-remove after installing? It should be listed there as 'adobe flashplayer 9 active x' if installed...
    Stupid question? No such thing!

Bob, If it's installed follow the instructions at the link below which should correct the problem. It has solved that problem for many others. Even though you may not be getting any error messages uninstalling it then reinstalling it may solve the problem.

    Flashplayer problem

Unfortunatley, i have tried the steps throughout the forums. I have also unistalled flashplayer through the Adobe link. I have updated my "manage add-ons" menu. I have the IE 6 and Win XP Home. When installed, the "flash movie" on adobe site does not play. However, it is listed in the control panel. Some sites that i am having issues with are MTV overdrive, Drpepper.com, and Behr Paint. All say i need Macromedia Flashplayer. This has been occurring for a few months now. Any other suggestions would be great. Thank you.

I have Windows Vista and my flash movies won't load. I have tried EVERYTHING I can find. Uninstall, re-install, change settings, run virus programs, nothing has helped me out. I'm half tempted to save the files I want on disc and re install my whole computer. Anyone KNOW what will help? Adobe's website is useless...By the way, my computer is only like a month old. Someone HELP!

Sahri21, Follow the instructions at the link below. Check your Security settings in Internet Options. Many times deleting all your Temporary Internet Files including all offline content corrects this problem. If that doesn't correct the problem I'd follow the instructions at the second link below. Uninstall the Flash Player using the uninstaller at the link then reinstall the latest version of the Flash Player. The third link is the download site for the latest version of the Flash Player.

    Unhappy Flash Player won't install

I have been trying to install the Adobe flash player for 2 days. I have visited the Adobe site and have tried EVRYTHING they have suggested. I found this site and have tried the answers given. Nothing works.

When I install Flashplayer, it shows the "movie" and states that it is installed. I don't have any problem watch youtube.

It does not show up in my install/remove programs. The only that shows up is Adobe Reader 9.
I need flash player for turbo tax! PLEASE HELP!!!

    Thank you!

In addition to all of the helpful info in the preceding posts, make sure you've installed the correct version of Flash Player for your browser. There are different versions, depending on whether you're using IE or Firefox/Opera.

Ok, How do I do that? When I was on IE, I tried to install it from there.

I did switch to FF and got it installed but why can't I install it on IE?

In programs file, it still doesn't show any file amount.

    If the site
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...5507&sliceId=1
is being used to test for the version of Flash Player installed, it should be noted that there is no "movie". You just get told in print what version is installed. Also the latest version for IE is 10.0.12.36.
It often is a good idea to uninstall the old version before installing the new. Adobe says it is necessary to do this and offers an uninstaller http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...4157&sliceId=1
P.S. You do get a movie of sorts by testing using this site http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/

    Smile

I did the macromedia site check. It told me the version. Could not do the adobe site test. So if I want to install it for IE, I have to uninstall it for FF? Correct?

I think I will leave it for FF.
    I've tried everything for IE.

    Thank you for your help.

wonderwhy--Uninstall should be the same for either browser, so YES.
