[XP] SATA drives won't appear
Hi i've recently been having big problems with my computer, It was going real slow one day, so i thought i'd restart it. But it didn't want to restart. It Would get halfway through the 'windows xp' screen, show a blue screen then restart. I tried using Norton go-back to restore it but with no luck. I then tried getting a hard drive from my other pc and putting it into it but not much really happened either, it still showed the the blue screen then would restart. so... i got a blank 20gb hard drive put that in, installed xp on it and a few other programs just to get it up and running. But here's the tricky part.....
The two SATA hard drives that are in the computer won't show up! They are there in device manager, but don't show up in My Computer. I have no idea what to do I've tried unplugging each one and booting it up with just one but still nothing. i've checked all the power supplies, etc and they are all good. I've loaded the fail safe defaults in the bios, and set it up how i initially had it. I've also tried unplugging all cd drives, card reader, pci cards, etc. but still nothing.
The computer is:
Pentium 4 3.0GHz
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 mother board
2 x Kingston 512 Mb DDR 400 Mhz ram
2 x Seagate 120Gb 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drives
Pixelview GeForce 6600 GT AGP DDR3 128MB video card
and now 18.9GB Samsung IDE HDD
how it's configured:
IDE1: Master: 20gb samsung
Slave: DVD-RW drive
SATA1: 120gb hdd
SATA2: 120Gb hdd
In the bios it is configured to automatically put the two sata drives in the secondary ide channel.

I just looked in partiton magic, and both the 120gb drives appear as 'goback' type. I'm guessing that this is the problem? Where do i go from here?

GoBack is a disaster waiting to happen, and it looks like you've had your disaster
My inclination would be to low-level format the drives (it's the only way to be fully rid of GoBack), and to start over with a clean install of Windows. How do you feel about that?

When it first came out, I thought that GoBack was the best idea since sliced bread. After messing with it for a while, I started to realize that it was the worst idea since rice-flavored Jello. I'm with SuperSparks on this one...get it off your drives....do it yesterday.
