    Resolved [RESOLVED] MS Updates

Any input from anyone about the 1-11-11 from MS update? 'Something' about it scares me. As usual, TIA.

This update is necessary to successfully install and to remove any service packs to all versions of Windows 7 and on Windows Server 2008 R2.
My understanding is that KB976902 has to do with the upcoming Service Pack installation.

You don't have to install it right now, but it will probably be required for SP1.

Thanks Midknyte. That was the gist of what I understood the update to mean. I have not read about any soon-to-be SP. Still, I think I will wait until that day arrives because I believe, as you do, it will be needed for the SP1 to win7.

This is nothing new. MS had a "mystery" update before SP1 came out for Vista.

BTW, the Windows 7 SP1 is in RC stage already.

There are rumours that SP1 RTM has already gone to OEM partners. If that's true, we won't have much longer to wait. Not that Win7 is particularly desperate for a Service Pack, it has been remarkably bug-free IMO.

    I agree. It's pretty solid.
