What are the best (most effective) ways to speed up my boot time?
I'm lookng to get rid of my bootup screen. It takes several minutes to boot my laptop windows xp and I know it can be done in less than a minute.

The only really effective way of having a fast boot time is not to have any software installed It's just a fact of life that installing software causes the boot time to take longer.
You may be able to speed things up a bit by going into Msconfig>Startup and unchecking anything that doesn't need to start when Windows boots. Also, have a look in Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services, and set anuything that isn't necessary to either "Manual" or "Disabled". Be careful not to disable anything important though. This should help:

Dont forget to defragment your drives regularly and scan for malware! Also, uninstall anything you do not need. The link below has some highly recommended ways of removing the baddies from your system. Do at LEAST 2 or 3.

Also, make sure your drivers are working well and are up to date. This has been a problem for me in the past.
Check this site out: www.driverguide.com
From here you can do it manually OR you can use this software to search for new drivers. Its not free, but it has a trial. http://www.driverguidetoolkit.com/
