[RESOLVED] I Need the old ... "cardfile.exe"
Hello all,
I have inadvertently deleted the "cardfile.exe" that we all have used since win 3.1 times. I now use Win 2000 Pro. Does anyone still have it. If so please email to me. Or if a download is available, please let me know where. I have searches the usual places i.e., microsoft website, download.com, cnet etc..
Thanks in anticipation.
VP.

Hi,
Look through this google search which should help.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...e+Search&meta=
The most interesting post item was the second link (when I did the earch ) that cardfile.exe is on the Win 98 CD
Failing this, swap out the main hard disk on another computer with an old spare hard disk. Install DOS & Win 3.1.
Copy cardfile.exe to a floppy disk
Replace old hard drive and give it back to kids if you're still alive LOL

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.

MORE INFORMATION
The Cardfile program was originally written for and included with Microsoft Windows 3.1 and 3.11. It is not enabled by default in Windows 98 or Windows Me. However, the program file is included on the Windows 98 and Windows Me CD-ROM.
To enable the Cardfile program, extract the Cardfile.exe file from the Windows 98 CD-ROM:
NOTE: If you are running Windows Me, see the article that is listed at the end of this section for information about how to extract files. 1. Click Start, click Run, type sfc.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Click Extract one file from installation disk.
3. In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type cardfile.exe, and then click Start.
4. In the Restore From box, type the drive letter and path to the Windows 98 source CD-ROM folder.
5. In the Save File In box, type the full path to the Windows folder (for example, C:\Windows), and then click OK.
6. Click OK when you see the "The file has been successfully extracted" message, and then click Close to quit System File Checker.
7. Click Start, and then click Run.
8. Type cardfile, and then click OK to run Cardfile.

I scanned that file at http://www.virustotal.com/ and it seems safe.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.
