Elaine God Bless you my Lady. I hope that you are up and running soon with your new H/d.
I have opened another thread to try and open Trends HouseCall which is giving me 'sore head' at the moment trying to see what I have 'messed-up' along the way.
The thread is called HJT Log File Advise Please. But the experts report back saying that the log does not show up ActiveX files which seems to be the problem, at the moment.
I certainly do not want to be a 'headache' to Virtual Dr because you have all be so kind to me.

Bob,
Can`t run online scans
Run these programs and see if they find anything
CoolWebShredder
http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract..._download.html
CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4113.html
If they fix anything try the online scans again
If that does not fix it I don`t know what else to suggest as you seem to have tried everything. ( read you HijackThis thread)

So how did you manage to run Trend Micro?
Did CWShredder find and fix something?

BT Yahoo is my usual browser that I use so this morning I tried to use Internet Explorer and it would not connect. saying on the top bar...Internet Explorer Cannot find server and on the main screen...The page cannot be displayed.
I think that IE6 is faulty somewhere because earlier in this discussion I was told to run 'scannow' and it asked for the Service Pack 2 CD to be inserted and this machine bought from PC World only came with a 'rescue' CD which has been mislaid.
So, Elaine, could you suggest anything to get IE6 moving because I think that this has stopped me getting into these programmes. I have tried to find IE6 in Add/Remove but it is not listed. It looks as though the virus has done something with IE6.
I found the following link..Internet Explorer repair Tool :-
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"
when I entered this into 'run' as instructed, a window said:-
RUNDLL
Error loading setupwbv.dll
The specified module could not be found.

CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller (v1/v2) has not been found on your system.
This just means that it found nothing bad.
Internet explorer
You do have an internet connection with the machine? You can connect with BT Yahoo ?
Check that your firewall is not blocking IE
You can`t repair IE since you don`t have an installation CD.
You could reinstall it but I have a feeling that Outlook Express is bundled with it so that would be reinstalled too. Do you use Outlook Express?

Elaine Thanks again for your input.
The only CD I have is for Sarahs Windows XP Professional.
I do not use Outlook Express.
I have always used BT Yahoo browser with this PC.
My internet connection is by Ethernet cable from the BT Box downstairs. Sarahs is connected to the same box by USB. Hope you understand what I am trying to say Elaine.
Hope that the engineer gets to you soon.
Which part of the country are you ?

Latest trick that these 'beastie(s)' are doing is.. When I log on to an address on any post, as the site is d/l I get a little small window appearing, right in the centre of the screen, instead of 'full-screen' as before. To maximise it I have to open via top-left corner.
