CD/DVD drive door won't open!!
I have a Lite-On DVDRW drive whose door will not open!! It doesn't respond when I click the button. That is to say I hear a noise like it wants to respond, but nothing happens. Well maybe if I slap it upside the head (the side of my computer case). It's been very very balky for a while. Sometimes it opens if I go to CD-Rom and right-click to get it to eject.
Help me help me!! Or will I just have to get another????
Oh yeah. I have Windows XP Home, with SP3 and etc etc.

To open the drawer take a paper clip and straighten it out, poke the end into the little hole, this will push the drawer out.
Sounds like the rails inside are beginning to deteriorate. That means time for a new drive.

I'd just get another, they are very cheap these days, and in my experience, it is nigh on impossible to repair them.

CD/DVD drive door
I'll first try what PhotoLady said. After that, I'll look at prices for a new one. Thanks ever so for the tips.

CD/DVD drive door won't open
Well, kiss my butt. For reasons unknown to me, there is no pinhole on the drive where I could insert the paperclip.
I think it's probably just an anomaly in how the people who built this computer put it together.
Gonna have to buy another.
Thanks for the help

I've had some success using duct tape to grab a stuck cd drawer to pull it open.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.
