    True "Tech" story

I have a friend who lives in another city. This friend calls me his/her tech support. He/she called a week ago because a new program on a CD would not fit into his/her CD drive. We discussed how a CD fits into the drive on my computer, and he/she said he/she was not certain the drive on the computer there had ever been used. Anyway, the CD could not go into the drive such that the drawer would close. No way. He/she has a friend who does computer repairs in that city, so I suggested a call to that friend. The computer was taken there and left. Three days later my friend called me to say he/she had the computer back, all was well. The tech guy there had called my friend and said he could find nothing wrong with the drive, and when he/she came to pick up the computer, please bring the CD to try in the drive. My friend told me he/she took the CD and watched as the tech guy opened the drive, put the CD in and closed it. It was at that point that my friend, who did not tell the tech person this, realized that he/she, at home, had had the computer upside down and was trying to put the CD, obviously, on the bottom of the "upside-down tray." I always thought these things were made up. This happened. The person in the story is a retired private school professor. I am obviously keeping the identity vague, but this did happen.

After finding someone had fed a Peanut butter and Jelly sandwich to a floppy drive, I believe it.

    What a mess that was.
