    Start = Shortcuts

    Hi,

    Before i formatted my hard drive i had my pc set up so that if i opened a program to use it would automatically aapear in the start menu, i've been into customize and set to save 8 programs in the start menu, but it's not saving any?

    Have i done something wrong?

    Make sure that you have "Start menu" selected and not "Classic start menu".

    Guessing you mean the above section, do you mean you just selected to have 8 programs shown in the recently opened section or the section above that?? I'm a little confused on the problem. To put programs in the top left section you can just drag and drop.

    Any programs inparticular or just everything, because that sometimes happens for me too with certain programs they just don't appear there after use, try opening generic stuff like paint and mess with it for a few minutes and then close it and then go to the start menu and see if it is there, i know this isn;t much help after you wanted a list that contained all recently used programs but lets see if generic programs work, also try notepad/wordpad etc.

    Cant-Fix-It--Is this what you are looking for? Most frequently used programs will eventually appear in the Start menu.
    Right click on blank spot in Taskbar|Properties|Start Menu tab|Customize|General tab|Programs section.

    i've been into customize and set to save 8 programs in the start menu

    Did you reboot after applying the change in the start menu options?

    liam858--Good point. I have no idea how many times you have to use a program for it to appear in the Start menu, since I do not have that box checked.

    Cant-Fix-It, Go to the link below and under the letter "F" scroll down to "Frequently Used Programs" where you'll find some possible solutions.
