    registry hack

I need a registry hack to fix a problem . When trying to install IE8 it extracts files to F:\ which is my slave HD. Then when IE8 trys to install it looks for the files on C:\. So what I need is to make it extract to C drive so I can finish the installation.

You can manually extract files from the .exe file using 7zip or Winrar.

Then run iesetup.exe from the update folder.

Could you post the exact error you are getting? OS would help too. I'm going to guess XP for now.

So you extracted the IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe to a folder and then ran iesetup.exe from the \extractedfolder\updates folder?

am running XP Pro SP3 yes I extracted it to a folder on the desktop and ran the iesetup.exe with no luck . The only error is in the event viewer and I attached a screenshot of it.

Even 4373 doesn't say much. So the installation just bombs out with no warning?

I posted download links a few days ago. Maybe a new download is in order.

Do you mean DUAL boot? That would have been nice to know in the first thread.

Did you try just running the setup from C:\extractedfolder\update? That's basically what the installer does, but it creates a random hash name in place of "extractedfolder".
