Question Problem Connecting HP laserjet 1000

I was given an HP laserjet 1000 printer. The problem is I did not get the cable to connect it , the printer, to the pc. The only connector on the back of the printer is a DB25, female end. HP sells a cable to connect the printer to the pc with a USB connector for around $ 80.00. Is there an easier and cheaper way to connect the pc to the printer?

Would I be able to print if I bought a DB25 male to male cable?

The LaserJet comes with a proprietary cable, with a USB connector for your PC at one end and a processing pod at the other that plugs into what looks like a parallel port at the back of the printer.

Talking Proprietary cable for HP 1000

I do have a USB port. Any suggestions on where to get the cable, other than HP?

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I rather doubt it would be available elsewhere. Not enough demand.

There is a small picture of it on this page:It also says it can be reordered for $50.

Proprietary CRAP!!! No engineering reason in the WORLD for using a non-standard cable, other than the hope for gouged pricing to the consumer...
