    Unhappy Please, Please Help!!!!- res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http:///

Please help, I just tried to get on to my other computer and log onto the internet, and I cannot go to any websites at all! In the address bar it just says http:///. And then it just starts pulsing like a heartbeat!!! Like it keeps loading and loading. I went to properties and looked at the url of it, and it said: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http:///

No matter where I try to go, it goes to the webpage I'm trying to go to for about 1 sec., and then just redirects it to that address! I even tried to open a webpage offline, and it was going crazy trying to load over and over!!! Some one please help, if you have any sympathy!

Hi F.B., welcome to Virtual Dr

That is just the standard "Cannot find server or DNS error" page. It could well be that there are DNS server problems, maybe at your ISPs end. Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt, and then type "tracert mit.edu" without the quotes. Post back what it reports please.

    Hi,Thank you.

It said: Tracing route to mit.edu [18.7.22.69]
over a maximum of 30 hops: and then it had a whole bunch of numbers. Am I supposed to post all that too?

Also, something I forgot to mention in my first posts. I think it might be a hijacking becuz for a long time before this, evertime I would open internet explorer when I was offline, it was trying to load or go somewhere, it was pulsing really fast and it said the address at the bottom(status bar), but I couldnt hardly see it, becuz it was always flashing so fast. I'm pretty sure it was: badurl.granstreetinteractive.com. And someone else told me they think I've been hi-jacked, and I've seen some other people with a problem like this that were hijacked.

OK, if you got a bunch of numbers like that it shows that the problem isn't with the DNS server (you'd have got an "unable to resolve" message if it was). As you think it's hijack related, run these two removal programs first, after updating the definitions:

    Spybot S & D

    Adaware

Then unzip this program into its own permanent folder, run it and post the logfile in our Hijack This Logfile forum here:

    Hijack This

    Unhappy Please help!!!- res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http:///

Please someone help me!!! This is a big problem. I'm on my other computer right now. Okay let me start to explain how my problems started. A while ago, I got this problem with my other computer where everytime I would open internet explorer when I was offline, it would start flashing super fast and going crazy, and at the bottom of the screen(status bar) it said the address was something like badurl.grandstreetinteractive.com or 404badurl.grandstreetinteractive.com. And I noticed that whenever I went to sites that weren't working(404 errors, etc.,) it would redirect me to this certain website everytime with links to buy stuff. Even when some sites were working, it would still redirect me to that website. I think the website was named ShopNav and the the website was mainly a turquoise or greenish blue. Now the other day, as soon as I got onto that computer, logged onto the internet, and then opened internet explorer, I could not go ANYWHERE. Internet Explorer would not let me go to ANY websites. It would just let me go to the site for 1 sec. then just take me to a page that had this in the address bar: http:///(see the 3 slashes?). And I looked up the URL address under properties and it said: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http:/// . Now I cannot go to any websites on that other computer!! I can connect to the internet but not access any websites. That is why I have to use this computer to send this. Someone PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!!! That problem is drivin' me nutz!

I updated and used the newest version of Spybot, my Norton anti-virus, and Hi-Jack This, but I cannot update my Ad-Aware to he newest SE becuz you have to go to their website! Someone told me u have to go to the website to get it.) So this is my log:

Open Task Manager & end process on the following:
    zsxcwiac.exe
    wo.exe

Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 and delete the zsxcwiac.exe file. Go to C:\Program Files and delete the Web Offer folder.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Okay I did everything u said, until I got to the part where it says to download VX2Finder.exe. I downloaded it, and when I tried to run it, it just would not run. It wont run on either of my computers! So I looked up other sources to download it from, and I downloaded it there, and they still didn't work!. I also saw posts where people are also having problems with it running on their comps. So I was going to just skip that and download Ad-Aware SE on this comp so I could burn it onto a cd and install it on the other comp. I was about to install it on the other comp, but then it said u should uninstall older versions of it first. But I have some files still in Quarantine on there. If I uninstall the older version, won't it delete them?? Please Help!!! What should I do?

Try installing Adaware SE into a separate directory. If not, just follow all my other directions and post another log.

You never said if you knew what this is; O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [winpack] C:\WINDOWS\System32\winpack.exe
If you do not, go to system32 and find it and right click on it. Choose Properties. Click the version tab and get the manufacturer and original filename please. Maybe that will give a clue.

Do you have anything in Adaware's quarintine that needs keeping? How long have they been in there? If your PC is running fine, I would say it is ok to rid yourself of them.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Oops sorry, no I don't know what that is. I went to properties and looked, but there wasn't really any info. There was no version, manufacturer, original filename, etc. I had some things that needed keeping. They have been in there for quite a while. I did a system search for mad.dll and it didn't find anything, except for the ones in the Hi-Jack This logfiles. In the:

    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: mad.dll

Was I supposed to look in 'hidden' files and folders too??

Would be a good idea to check the *show hidden files* option and look again. It is likely to be in the system32 folder.

Open Task Manager & end process on the following:
    winpack.exe

Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32 and delete winpack.exe manually.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows, and hit the "Fix checked" button.

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [winpack] C:\WINDOWS\System32\winpack.exe
