    Registry edit "Slave" ?

    Registry edit "Slave" ?
    Registry edit "Slave" ?

I have a friends HD that won't start because of viruses on his computer but I can see it as a "slave" on mine.

I am going to run anti-virus software but some of the viruses may need a registry tweak or two.

Can I get to the Regristry of the "slave"?

Don't know, never tried it... although I would suspect that if it is in bad enough shape that it won't boot, you could save any critical data off the drive for future usage, but will probably have to reformat and reinstall the O/S to really get the drive back in normal operation.

If it won't boot at all, I don't know of a better approach...
    Various Windows and Linux platforms...

    Did you try:
    START
    RUN
    D:\REGEDIT (or address of "slave")

Another option is to go to:
www.grc.com and read the documentation on SPINRITE.
The new version recovers information from 'dead' disks, from a diskette.
    Hope this helps.

I can see the files as the "slave" drive but it won't start on it's own because of viruses.
