Unable to download files in IE
I have IE6 SP1 and when I click on a file to download from the Internet I get a nearly blank page with a little picture of an image placeholder it looks like. In the bottom left of the browser when downloading It says "Starting download from site" and gives the path to the file to be downloaded. There is a icon of what looks like a drive with a red arrow above it. Then about 2 to 5 seconds after displaying the message it says Done and after 30 seconds to 2 minutes it then changes to the page nearly blank page. I have done scans with Spybot and Adaware. I have downgraded IE to IE5.0 and reinstalled 6 SP1. I have cleared the temporary internet files and I have reset all security levels back to the defaults. I have also reinstalled Windows 98 over the top of itself and still no luck.

I believe I spoke too soon and read the directions wrong haha. The KB article fixed the problem dealing with extensions. Thanks for the tip
