openssh -> ssh public key authentication

Has anyone successfully set up public-key authentication between an OpenSSH client and an ssh daemon ( i.e. http://www.ssh.com/ )? All my machines run OpenSSH and I have successfully set up public-key authentication when connecting to a server that uses OpenSSH for the ssh daemon. However, I also log into several machines that use non-OpenSSH ssh. It would be really convenient to have public-key authentication working for cvs and such. Thanks.
