There's no option to disable onboard video HELP!

    Asus mobo A7V8X-MX-SE

I wanted to install a video card into the AGP slot, but I thought I had to disable onboard video first.

here is a link to the manual:
    http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock...7v8x-mx_se.pdf

I go into BIOS and searched through all the options and there's no simple phrase: "disable onboard video" That's all I wanted, is that too much to ask?

Instead there is a ton of options having to do with the video, but most of them just allow me to change some numbers, without disabling them.

The manual says that you can disable the VGA shared memory size, but you can't, there's only 3 choices 16, 32, or 64.

Hmmm... I just found one that says "Assign IRQ for VGA" and it's enabled, could this be it?

well c**p I swear it's not in here then.

is it possible that it's set up to automatically disable itself when an AGP card is inserted?

Yeah I read that part too, but as stated in my original post, the manual is wrong. When you're actually in Bios and you select that option, it gives you 3 choices 16, 32, or 64, the option to disable is missing.

I wonder if this is just flawed, like they forgot to put it in so now it's impossible to disable the onboard video. Because you're right, according to the manual it should be there.

You know why it doesn't show it? Because what we have here is a mobo that AUTO Disables the video when an AGP or PCI video is inserted into the Slot. If you the actual option of Disabling the Integrated graphix sytem it would be in the I/O Device Configuration Option. You may want to write a email to the tech support for that Mobo and be as detailed as possible when addressing the issue. Good Luck

Ah, this is what I suspected but I've never heard of it before.

I put in the AGP card and it works like a charm. The device manager makes no mention of the onboard video or its drivers, so it must be disabled.

Thank you for your help. VirtualDr community is the best!
