    Select an event Reversal

When an external device is plugged in to the computer, Windows XP [Pro] allows me Select an event that is appropriate for that device. I checked the box that said something like “Always do this” located below the list. Now a particular program always opens when a digital camera is plugged into the USB port and I can’t reverse it. I want to be able to see the list again. Thank you.

    HI gvf,

Have you tried opening that particular program and look for "Options" or "Properties". Look for things like "Always use this to........" and untick any option which would apply to your camera.

I am not sure whch box is giving you these choices to select a program from, and I have never attached a camera to my machine. So just as a guess, see if you can find Cameras in Control Panel. It might be listed under "Printers and other hardware". If you can find your camera right click on it and check all the options there.

I believe gvf is referring to Auto-insert notification for devices.

gvf, plug in your external device then:

Dbl-click My Computer > rt-click your device and select Properties.

Under the 'Auto-play' tab you will see a radio button for "Prompt me each time to choose an action." (you could set other preferences there as well).

I've not tried this yet.. And yet is seems SO obvious. But I run into this all the time and could never put my head around it. If this works in re-enabling the PROMPT.. U DA MAN.

Thanks for the time saver for me
