    AIW TV Tuner Problem

The TV tuner and video and audio inputs in my AIW Radeon 7500 just stopped working. They were working fine earlier today and when I pulled up my TV tuner a couple of hours ago I get a black screen. The same with the composite input. When I turn it on there is a blip of TV sound and then silence and black screen.

I haven't done anything new except hook up my VCR to the Composite in plug yesterday and it worked fine. I scanned for viruses, rebooted numerous times and turned off the computer to let it cool down; the cases temp is 30c and CPU is 35c.

The only things I can think of are that the tuner has died or I have overtaxed the power supply. I have 3 optical drives and three hard drives. I have an Antec 430w power supply, Soltek75frn2-l mainboard, AMD 2500xp Barton CPU, 2 case fans and 2 video cards: the AIW 7500 Radeon and a PCI Radeon 7500 running on Windows 2000.

Any help would be appreciated - Paul

If I read you correctly, why are you running two video cards at the same time? Two monitors for two desktops? The AIW 7500 is in the AGP slot? The drivers I use for my AIW 8500DV will allow to use two monitors without a seperate vid card. If the above is the case, i'd try pulling the PCI card and do a clean driver uninstall/install for the 7500...

Yes I am running 2 monitors, 1 on each card since there is only 1 monitor output on the AIW card.

Everything on this system has been running perfectly until today. For this reason I don't think the problem has anything to do with drivers or configuration. I think it is a hardware problem. I have been monitoring the voltage levels and they seem to be 1 or 2 % lower than 3.3 or 5 volts so I don't think it's the power supply.

I took the coax cable off and put it on a TV and it works fine, so I know I'm getting a signal. I just can't get it through the video card. I'm just wondering if it's time for a new one. I use this machine as a digital VCR/ Multimedia system.

I like having the 2 Radeon 7500 cards because they use the same driver. If I get an AIW radeon 9600, can they still use the same driver? Thanks for your help.

Well then, i see your point. According to ATI,as long as it's a 'Radeon' card(s), the catalyst drivers are compatible with all versions.

    Weird,

I just updated my audio driver and I'm getting sound now. Maybe it is a driver problem. I'm going to reinstall the video drivers now. Hopefully it will work. Why would it all of a sudden stop working like that if it's a driver problem? Thanks.

In device mangler, if you expand the sound controller, you may see as many as 6 ATI entries depending on what features you use such as MMC,Crossbar, etc. It's possible that a corruption of some kind caused your audio problem and re-installing your sound drivers may have corrected this...
