Need help in reinstalling XP.
Want to reinstall XP Home on top of it to repair the OS. Was prompted for an adminitrator password, but the computer administrator in windows has no password. Tried to put a password in user(windows) and entered it in setup when it prompted a password, did not work. How do I know this administrator password? Or can I reset it? Should I ran Upgrade in setup to repair my XP OS? Need to preserve apps and settings.

Howdy:
Unless you set the Admin password originally, there normally isn't one.. just leave it blank.

Jonathan,
Yes. Just press "Enter" when asked for the Administrator password.
You will find a link on this page to "Repair XP"
