how to remove a option from startup menu
Hi all,
i had a system that had three operating systems win 98 on c,win xp on f,and linux - i decided to remove the linux installation and didnt know how to do it so i just installed win xp in the same drive and formatted it.but this gave a new prob - there are two xp options in the startup menu how do i remove the option corresponding to the installation that no longer exists??

Hi and welcome to Virtual dr.
Two options.. either manually edit boot.ini file in the root of C to remove the phantom entry (open it in notepad)
or run msconfig and select the boot.ini tab and let it fix it automatically by selecting "check all boot paths"
EDIT- having just re-read your question I realize that there are now actually two installations of XP on your computer... one on F and one on I... so in that case there should be two references to XP in the boot menu. Am I understanding this correctly?
VirtualDr email notices are not working.

i edited the boot.ini fiile and it worked.
