    Meaning of Intel letter designations?

    Intel motherboards have descriptive designations like D845PERL, D845EBG2, D855PESO and so on. Each letter following the chip number means something. What does each letter mean? Is there somewhere to look up what they mean? I know the letter "L" means onboard LAN but what do the other letters mean? I can't find any information on the Intel website explaining the meaning of the letters. Thanks, Muggs

    Example:

    D845PERL
    D = Desktop
    845PE = Chipset

    Not sure about the RL

    D845PERL

    I saw that and had to refrain from making PERL jokes.
