Canon ZR10 to Dell Laptop - Firewire Question
I have a Canon ZR10 Digital Camera. I want to transfer video from it to my Dell Latitude D500 notebook. Problem: The notebook did not come with firewire ports/card. It does have USB 2.0, but I have been told not to use USB to transfer video footage...loss of frames/quality.
Question: Do I need to buy a firewire card for my notebook? And if so, any suggestions? I have seen some StarTech Cards for around $39.95, that have 3 ports.
Or can I use USB to transfer the video footage?
Thanks!

The ZR10 does not have a USB port and, AFAIK, there is no adapter available. The best alternative is to buy a Fireware card for the laptop.
You can use USB 2.0 for video (if both the devices support 2.0, of course). USB 1.1 was not suitable for video transfers.
