Outlook Express msimn.exe error
Hello folks,
haven't been here in a while, but here's a new problem that doesn't seem to be posted anywhere...
Everytime I open Outlook Express I get an error msge telling me the program must close. Sometimes it happens when I first open the program or if I have email to recieve it occurs and when I try to close the program same thing. I always get the error in some form, rendering the program useless. The error msge is as follows:
Error Signature:
AppName: msimn.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: directdb.dll ModVer: 6.00.2600.0
Offset: 0000af52
I hadn't installed any new programs, I have run virus checks with both Norton and HouseCall, nothing. I tried the "sfc /scannow " trick suggested in earlier posts and I get a quick flash of the black window and then it's gone... I need help
Thanks:

HI,
I had the same problem before but there was when I was still using Outlook Express 5. I upgraded it to Outlook Express 6 thru Windows Update and has no problem since.
Hope this helps!

Fumiya,
I allready thought of that, unfortunately my OE is upto date.
Jenae,
I will try your suggestion tonight, however, what does your solution do?
Thanks.

BTW-- That version of directdb.dll is not the latest--at least not for Win98. Of course, could be different for WinXP. My version of msimn.exe and directdb.dll are both 6.00.2800.1123. I suspect I got them from a patch to OE (Or possibly IE) in early March. Both are dated 3/3/03.

Hi this ensures OE is your default mail handler.

Jenae,
Nope, didn't work. Just opens the program, which it does anyway. It's when the program has to do something, like recieve or send mail... or close that it encounters the error
Thanks though
