Can I print on longer thank A4 sheets on HP 1220 LaserJet ?

Hi

Has anybody here hp 1200 or 1220 ?

I 'd like to print on papers that are A4 wide and let's say 1 meter high . Can I do it on such a printer and how if so ?

The driver enables me to select such option for greater papers, but even if I change the paper setting in document setting, HP driver and who knows where else.... it treat's the sheet as if it was A4 and stops rolling after such format comes out and I must take it from printer "by hand"

STEBEL--No personal experience with those models, but does your printer permit printing "Banners"? That is the setting you want. Look in the printer's "Users' Guide".

Laser printers cannot print pages longer than the diameter of the drum which is probably 16 inches (8.5 x 16 = "legal size" in the US).

Most Epson inkjet printers can print 44 inch (one meter = ~ 39 inches) long banners.

The drum idea sounds nice, but can such an serious technology as laser printing be limited by such a simple thing like drum diameter ?

The image is formed by toner on the drum. The paper is wrapped around the drum and the toner is fused to the paper by heat. Any paper beyond the drum diameter will overlap the other end of the paper.

Both the hp LaserJet 1200 and the 1220 print to any size between 3 X 5 cards and American Standard Legal (8.5 X 14). The 1220 can be customized to print to a smaller medium, but neither can print beyond the max of 8.5 X 14.

Yes, a better description would be "the drum rolls over the paper" but either way, the paper can't be longer than the drum circumference (not the diameter as I also mis-stated).

the diameter of the drum for the laserjet 1200 is probably not much over an inch.
