Did you ever try as fuelman suggested and right click on the bottom toolbar? That should bring up a window with the Task Manager option available to you. What do you get when you do right click on it? Carole

Found a registry fix to turn Task Manager on and off at Elder Geeks site.
http://www.theeldergeek.com/enable_d...sk_manager.htm
This tweak disables user access to Task manager. It must be applied on a user by user basis. Hope this helps. Carole
[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: DWORD Value // Value Name: DisableTaskMgr
Setting for Value Data: [0 = Enabled (Default) / 1 = Disabled]
Exit Registry and Reboot
0 = Enabled (Default)

Could it be a virus?
Hey there!
I read through all of the posts (because I was having the same problem and looking for a solution), and talked to my IT guy here at work to make sure that the "regedit" change wouldn't do anything harmful. He said go ahead and do it, so I did, but it didn't work. I'd gotten that w32.blaster.worm virus about the same time it started fouling up, but took care of that and applied all the patches, but it still did not work. I updated my virus definitions with Norton Anti-Virus last night, and I was infected with another w32.(sorry but I don't remember the name).worm virus. It had infected 20 files. I quarantined all of them, restarted, and now ctrl+alt+del works again.
Hope that helps!

danie218--Presume you mean Control+ALT+Delete (all clicked simultaneously) does not cause the TaskManager window to show. Has this just started to happen?
What version of Windows are you using?
Jim
WIN7 Ultimate SP1 64bit, IE 11, NTFS,
cable, MS Security Essentials, Windows 7 firewall

Hi ilovetoys...I don't run WinXP but FWIW
Do you by chance have TweakUI installed?
There is a setting in the Boot tab that allows you to disable various keys
---------------------
Does it do this in SAFE MODE?
See what happens when you boot to Safe mode and press CTRL +ALT+DEL
If it works in SAFE MODE then it is a program starting in windows.
w32.spybot.worm is known to cause this..
-----------------------
Is there a Local Reboot listing in systemroot\System.ini or Services
LocalReboot=Off and change it to LocalReboot=On
-----------------------
Or maybe this..

This is a 2 year old thread!
danie218, please start a new thread describing exactly what the problem is and what you've tried so far. Posing your problem in someone else's thread just makes things confusing for everyone
Nick.
