Custom Input Devices
Hi,
I am interested in making a specific media player a choice for an input media device. For right now I use Stereo Mix, but this isn't as efficient because other background noise can interfere. I would like to make Winamp my record input device if possible. I'm not sure how this can be done but I think my best chance to finding answers would be here.
I obviously am running Windows XP Professional SP2.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello MrDoomMaster
Is this what you want to do?
Go to
Win Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types
Scroll down to the file type you want to play (such as wav ) and highlight it.
Underneath click "Change"
Then click the "Browse" button. Find Winamp and select it.
Apply OK
Do that for all the extensions you need to change.
Elaine
If it ain't broke, leave it alone.

No, file associations are not what I am interested in.
I perhaps wasn't clear enough on my inquiry, so I do apologize for that. As you know, there are many types of recording input devices.... Microphone, Stereo Mix, Mono Mix, etc. I wish to add winamp to this list. I want audio from Winamp to act as a "microphone", or "stereo mix". Any application that records sound will record from Winamp when Winamp is selected as the input device.
I hope that description is a lot better. Thank you very much for helping!
