    laptop backlight

    Where is the best place to buy a laptop backlight for a compaq presario 1240? buylcds.com looks good, but i want to make sure.

    Frankly, I think you would be better off going through Compaq, unless you are a real whiz on repairing laptops.

    Probably an arm and a leg...and they will most certainly suggest you consider buying a new laptop (from them, of course). I was just trying to give it to you gently. That model is an "oldie" and it would probably cost more to repair it than what it's worth.

    There's a place out on the east coast that replaces backlights for a flat $99. I sent one in that I got for a steal on ebay with a burned-out backlight, and I had my laptop back about a week or so.
