DNS Problem
Hi, Can anyone help with this one?
I am running W2000 Advanced Server. I have a problem installing DNS. The installation aborts and returns error code "OX3E7". I am not sure how to fix this problem. Should I reinstall W2000AS from scratch? If yes, how do I uninstall W2000AS ?
Any suggestions?
Please advise me as early as possible.
Thank you

Check your event logs (both System and Application) to see if there is any relevent information. Post back the results.

steppeb - You should see some 0x3e7 (note a zero rather than a letter O) in the security log if you are auditing but it is normally part of the detail of a success when creating or changing a DNS record.
Usually see 0x0 and 03e7 as a pair and associated with a login ID.
As to your question about the uninstall of 2K, boot from the install CD, blow away the existing system partition, create and format a new one, then install. But you aren't to that point yet I don't think and this doesn't sound much like an effect of a bad install to me. You might well install again and have the same issue.
Do you have SP3 loaded? Is the server set to provide RAS?
