Win2000:Trying to upgrade to XP,but cant.
Just a few days,
I downloaded BullGuard a virus detecting program,I scanned all hard drives
and it kept find a virus called (((win16.shrapnel.6067))) infected into 39 plus files.
alot were in my system and system32 files, some were dll's and some were drv's...
It automatically started deleting them...
I hurried up and shut down BullGuard but I saw some of the files deleted, some I didnt see.
I wrote down all the files deleted but uncertain what ones were deleted, but some were important files...because I got a box pop up saying please insert windows 2000 cd to fix files or dll's or whatever it was...
I believe some of the files deleted that was deleted were sf97unin.exe??<----was is this file
a few under
c:/winnt/system were ibmjoy.drv olecli.dll and wfwnet.drv
I tried to go ahead and upgrade to xp which I recently purchased, but I got a error ..here it was.
((((Setup Cannot Create a temporary Folder. setup cannot continue))))),maybe it deleted my temporary folder?
maybe one of the files, dll's or drv's are creating this error??
ohh yeah in my event viewer I got a error about
SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER saying this (((the following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:NaiFsRec))))
should i do a clean install?can I repair these?
Is there a program that can detect files missing???
please,any help will be thankful,
thanks,
Paco

I wouldn't bother messing about with it, just do a format & clean install. You'll be glad you did it anyway, clean installs are always more stable than upgrade installs.

You could try reinstalling over the exciting OS if there are a lot of files you don't want to lose. Also try another antivirus like AVG which is free. It's a very good program.
In your case, it would most likely better to reformat and start over. That way for sure the virus will be gone.
