XP Shut down ? Patch
My sons PC has just been reformatted but when it closes down Win XP says it is now safe to turn off your pc. Is there a patch to shut down.

i could not find any kind of patch. i have an old p2 compaq for the kids, it does the same thing, safe to shut down, there is nothing in the bios, and some of the choices that are available on my other 2 machines in the power options do not show up on the compaq. i have a feeling you may have the same situation. unless there is some bios flash available or something like that.

In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power Options.
Click the APM tab.
Check to select the Enable Advanced Power Management Support check box, and then click OK.
