image larger than monitor screen
Why is the image on my monitor larger than the screen itself - in other words, it's going off the edge and I can't access the vertical bar on the right side...

Sounds like you need to manually adjust your monitor screen size.
This can happen when you have updated display drivers and the refresh rate is wrong for the current resolution.
Most monitors allow you to adjust them on the monitor itself but check your refresh rate too before you make any adjustments.

Before doing this check the resolution of your monitor in display settings it should be 800 x 600. If it is then go to the advance tab and adjust the refresh rate. If this doesn't work then do what bossdodgers has advised.

I've just gone to help & support in xp and searched on 'large screen display' without the quotes. It came up with an answer that may help.

Billsalmi,
If you could give us a bit of info on your specs and display card/drivers etc we may be able to give you a better insight to the problem
